Accor Group is one of New Zealand's largest hotel management organisations, with several market-leading hotel brands and locations in every major city and town across the country. Each of these hotels has a restaurant offering and with that, menus. Lots of menus. With busy food and beverage staff taking care of all the day-to-day tasks of preparing guest meals, the job of preparing restaurant, bar and room service menus is often rushed and errors can creep in. With this in mind Accor Group engaged Cavalry to offer menu proofing and editing services for its hotel network. Some have also taken the opportunity to revisit their menu designs and give things a smart new look for summer!
Our first cab off the rank for the Accor Group was the Novotel Ellersie (Auckland) hotel who was keen for us to not only proof its menus but also re-vist their design and layouts. New concepts were developed and innovative new presentation tools sourced. One element was given particular attention - the Grab & Go (Room Service) menu which we designed in a unique concertina layout to allow each section of the menu to shine.
As we started working with various hotels within the Accor Group, we have been engaged to help with other aspects of the marketing mix, including promotional campaigns to help drive dining numbers. One example was a rugby breakfast promotion with supplier offers and giveaways.
Where a hotel offered daily themed buffets or special event menus, Cavalry has helped with the design of themed POS materials including posters, tent cards and flyers. With a strong focus on the themes, time was taken to find the perfect imagery to suit the cuisine - an often painstaking process - but worth it given that people first eat with their eyes.
